Essential maintenance works at the Community Recycling Centre at Chaldon Road, Caterham are being carried so that the service can continue to be provided at this valued local recycling facility for residents.
The site will be temporarily closed during the works which will include:
– Resurfacing and new road markings
– Replacing the fencing, site gates, kerbing, bollards, height barrier and container stops
– Repairing the boundary wall
– Updating the site office and staff welfare facilities
During this period, residents are asked to use the Community Recycling Centre, at Horley Road, Earlswood, RH1 6PN, which is around 7 miles from the Chaldon Road facility.
There will be a banner and posters at the recycling centre from Friday advertising the temporary closure and our staff will also be handing out flyers to customers. In addition, we will be providing posters to local community venues, placing adverts in the local papers and using online advertising to ensure as many residents as possible are made aware of the temporary closure.
When the site reopens changes will have been made to the community recycling centre service across Surrey. These changes are needed to achieve cost savings so that Surrey County Council can provide essential services like Adult Social Care in the face of increasing demand and reduced Government funding. Further information about these changes will be available from early March at surreycc.gov.uk/recycling.
